Highlights
- Learning Improvement Team (site-based decision making) with staff & parent representatives establish annual goals and improvement plans for the school
- School wide Reading Intervention Program and Reading Club (small group specialized tutoring) help struggling students
- Highly Capable Program for gifted students in grades 4 and 5
- After School Enrichment Program offers a variety of classes to students
- "OtterBots" Lego robotics after-school club; Opstad Lego Legends team forming in 2011 to participate in Lego League competition.
- Volunteers provide assistance equivalent to 10 extra full-time staff members each year
- Library has over 13,000 books for student & parent check-out
- All computers and multi-media centers have been upgraded or replaced
- PTA and Technology Levy have purchased electronic white boards (ActivBoards) for classrooms
- PTA raised money and received grants to install over $90,000 worth of playground equipment
- Opstad teachers selected as Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation Educators of the Year include: 1st grade teacher Nancy Pastrana (2009) and 3rd grade teacher Sharon Piper (2010)
- Principal John Jester was named a Regional Distinguished Principal, by the Elementary School Principals of Washington in 2009
